Porcelain Veneers

Over time, our teeth endure a lot. Bad habits like soda and coffee consumption, tobacco use, and teeth grinding all take their toll on the cosmetic appearance of a smile. Teeth may become worn or discolored as a result. Small chips and cracks may also occur, further decreasing our confidence in our smiles. This is in addition to any flaws in our teeth that we might have inherited, such as inconsistencies in size and shape, misalignment, and gaps between teeth. Fortunately, cosmetic dentistry offers a potentially ideal solution to such imperfections in the form of porcelain veneers, available at our Shreveport dental practice, Cormier Family Dentistry.

Patients who seek cosmetic repairs for discoloration, small chips, and other minor cosmetic imperfections in their teeth often find that veneers provide an elegant and effective solution. At Cormier Family Dentistry, we offer veneers as a cosmetic option for patients looking to boost the brightness and consistency of their smiles. If you think you might benefit from porcelain veneers, we invite you to contact our dental practice serving Bossier City, Minden, Stonewall, Keithville, and surrounding communities today.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are very thin ceramic shells that we use to cover the surfaces of your existing teeth. Veneers mask discolorations, chips, and other aesthetic imperfections. With the application of veneers, teeth appear more consistent in size, shape, and color. The result is a more attractive smile.

What is the process like?

The application of porcelain veneers typically requires two to three visits to our Shreveport office to complete. During your initial appointment, we will discuss your options and set goals for the outcome of your veneers. Your teeth will then be prepared for the placement of the veneers. This might involve cosmetic reshaping. We will take a model of your teeth to ensure the veneers are a perfect fit for your mouth.

These models are then sent to a laboratory where your veneers will be manufactured.  After one to two weeks, your veneers will be ready to be affixed. While you are waiting for your veneers to be prepared, a temporary solution may be worn.

Once the veneers arrive from the lab, we will bond the veneer shells to your existing teeth using artful care in the placement. Once the veneers are properly placed and bonded to your teeth, you will emerge with a brighter and more consistent smile!

Are porcelain veneers right for me?

We offer several cosmetic solutions that can be used as part of smile makeovers, including tooth whitening and dental bonding. However, on their own, these cosmetic procedures do not always comprehensively address smile imperfections. Porcelain veneers tend to be the appropriate choice for patients seeking improvements to their overall smiles. Patients who benefit from veneers want to improve the appearance of the alignment of slightly crooked teeth, repair gaps in the profile of misshapen teeth, cover stained or discolored teeth with a natural appearing bright tooth color, adjust the appearance of teeth that appear too small for the mouth, correct the appearance of extra spaces and gaps, fix the appearance of worn teeth, and to improve many other cosmetic inconsistencies in the smile.

If you are dissatisfied with the color and consistency of your smile, veneers might provide a simple solution to improving the overall appearance of your smile. Veneers are long lasting, especially when cared for appropriately. However, they will degrade over time and eventually require replacement.
